Corus-owned kidcaster YTV has commissioned a second season of DHX’s animated TV series Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Season two has already been licensed to Turner in EMEA, APAC and LatAm, while season one has been picked up by six more international broadcasters.

DHX will produce 26 more episodes with Sony Pictures Animation in association with Corus Entertainment. The series is produced in DHX’s Vancouver animation studio and will premiere later in 2018. DHX handles all global TV, merchandising and non-US home entertainment rights to the toon, with Sony serving as home entertainment distributor in the US.

Season one launched last year on Turner’s Cartoon Network and Boomerang channels, as well as YTV in Canada. Turner is now bringing the second season to CN and Boomerang across Europe, Middle East & African, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.

On top of the second season announcement, season one deals have been inked with France Télévisions, Disney Channel GSA (Germany, Switzerland, Austria), RTL in the Netherlands, ABC Australia, RTP Portugal and TV3 in Ireland.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is based on Sony Pictures Animation’s 2009 animated feature film of the same name and its 2013 sequel Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, which made more than US$500 million globally combined, according to Box Office Mojo. Both films were distributed by Columbia Pictures.
