Blue Ant names Kids & Global Networks GM

The Toronto-based media company is growing its presence in LatAm and US-Hispanic markets with the appointment of former Fox exec Julio Sobral.

Toronto, Canada-based producer, distributor and channel operator Blue Ant Media has made a raft of sales appointments as it continues to grow its Global Networks division. The newly created sales team will operate out of the company’s L.A. office with a focus on distributing channels Love Nature, ZooMooand Arcade Cloud across Latin American and US-Hispanic markets.

Julio Sobral (pictured) has been tapped as GM of Blue Ant Media’s Kids & Global Networks division for LatAm and US-Hispanic territories. In his new role, Sobral will oversee distribution and operations of Blue Ant Media’s suite of channels across linear and streaming platforms. Sobral will report to Ward Platt, CEO of Kids & Global Networks. Before joining Blue Ant Media, Sobral served as SVP of business operations at Fox Network Groups Europe and US.

Additionally, hires for the LatAm and US-Hispanic sales team include Loreto Gaete (Chile, Colombia, Peru and Mexico), Sebastian Galia (Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay), Fernando Gualda (affiliated sales and distribution across LatAm and US-Hispanic), and Starret Berry (Caribbean and US-Hispanic). They will all report to Sobral.

In November, Blue Ant Media appointed Beatrice Lee and Carlyn Staudt to its Kids & Global Networks division. Lee was tapped as CEO of Blue Ant’s wholly owned Asian subsidiary of Blue Ant Media, operating under the company’s Kids & Global Networks banner. Staudt, meanwhile, was named EVP for Love Nature programming and development.
