UK children’s pubcaster CBBC has ordered a fourth season of Zodiak Kids Studios’ Millie Inbetween, while also co-commissioning the studio to produce Secret Life of Boys Christmas Special in conjunction with Australia’s ABC ME.
Zodiak Kids will produce 12 new half-hour episodes of Millie Inbetween, which was nominated for a BAFTA Children’s Award this year in the Best Performer category. A comedy-drama about families, the fourth season will follow Millie’s mother and her partner Mike getting married, as well as her Dad and his partner Amber moving to Spain. The show’s third season was commissioned in October 2016, and all episodes from the first season were sold at the same time to Dutch national broadcaster KRO-NCRV.
Secret Life of Boys Christmas Special, meanwhile, will be comprised of 10 new five-minute episodes that will be available online on BBC iPlayer and ABC ME iview before rolling out to linear channels. Told through the lens of video chats and text messages, the Christmas special follows Ginger as she’s getting excited to see all of her cousins on Christmas. Consisting of two seasons, Secret Life of Boys was commissioned in 2015 by AB3 and CBBC for various online and mobile services. Production is handled by The Foundation in the UK.
Zodiak Kids owns global distribution rights to both series.
