Universal Kids has acquired exclusive US TV rights to Irish production company JAM Media’s Little Roy. The 52 x 14-minute live-action/animated hybrid series will air every weekday during the NBCUniversal-owned channel’s Sprout programming block for preschoolers.

Little Roy currently airs in the UK on commissioning broadcasters CBeebies and CBBC. Northern Ireland Screen and the Irish Film Board also support the show through development and production funding. It has also sold to more than 30 territories including Australia (ABC), MENA (Discovery), Denmark (DR), Israel (Hop TV), Ireland (RTE), Sweden (SVT), Finland (YLE) and Belgium (VRT).

Following the everyday adventures of five-year-old Roy O’Brien, the series uses cartoon sequences to let its titular character escape his life and find solutions to real-life, live-action problems.
