Women in Toys, Licensing & Entertainment (WIT) has opened nominations for the 14th Annual Wonder Women Awards, which honor female thought leaders, executives and entrepreneurs having an impact on the industry.
Nominations are open until October 31, 2017. It is not necessary to be a WIT member to make a nomination, but the nominee must have a WIT membership (or join the organization) to be eligible to win.
Categories for the Wonder Women Awards include Inventor/Creator, Licensing, Manufacturing, Marketing, PR, Rising Star, Retailer, Sales, Lifetime Achievement and the Elise Lachowyn Mentorship Award. Established with the support of Tech4Kids, the Elise Lachowyn Mentorship Award recognizes outstanding industry mentors.
The Wonder Women Awards Selection Committee and WIT Board of Directors will review the nominees and select the finalists in each category. The final nominees will be announced on November 21 and voting will be open until December 19. Voting will be open to all members, board members and the advisory board.
The honorees will be celebrated at the annual Gala on February 18, 2018, during the New York International Toy Fair.
Earlier this year, actor and activist Geena Davis was honored with the Changemaker Award. Davis is an Academy Award-winning actor, the co-founder and chair of the Bentonville Film Festival and the founder of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media.
At the WIT gala in 2016, honorees included Spin Master, Hasbro, Moose Toys and Walmart. Mattel took home the Game Changer Award for the evolution of its Barbie brand with the Fashionistas line (pictured), which reflects women with different physical appearances and backgrounds.
