The Coolabi Group and Fashion UK, a European maker of licensed apparel, are releasing a line of t-shirts for adults based on the popular preschool series Clangers. Four possible designs were posted on the Clangers Facebook page for a public vote, which ended July 24.
The two most popular designs will be available at the end of August internationally on the Vanilla Underground website. The shirts are illustrated with characters from the show and feature slogans such as “Dropped A Major” (referring to one of the main characters named Major) and “Soup Dragons Fresh Green Soup” (referring to one of the characters Soup Dragon–and the Clangers love of its soup).
The shirts will be available in a selection of colors and sizes. The Coolabi Group says that even though the show is aimed at toddlers and preschoolers, the brand is aware of fans from past generations (the show originally ran from 1969 to 1972). It was rebooted by the BBC in June 2015, co-produced by CBeebies and Smallfilms.
The second season of the rebooted series is expected to air later this year following Major, Mother, Small, Tiny, Granny Clanger and their friends on new adventures. Previously Clangers has focused on kindness and empathy for its branding, pouring resources into kindness-themed charitable campaigns.
