Despicable Me inspires PUMA collection

The global sports brand has partnered with Illumination and Universal Brand Development on the multi-season PUMA x Minions Collection.

PUMA has partnered with Illumination and Universal Brand Development to launch a multi-season footwear and apparel collection inspired by fan-favorite characters from the Despicable Me franchise. The PUMA x Minions Collection will launch globally on June 29.

Minions Stuart, Carl and Kevin are featured in the line, along with new patterns, splashes of color, goggles and bananas. On top of shoes (the PUMA Basket is available in both a strap and laced version), the collection’s apparel offerings (pictured) include track jackets, sweat pants, hoodies, t-shirts, bags, scarves and gloves. The collection also includes shoes and apparel for adults, with sweaters, jackets, t-shirts and a backpack available.

The items will be available on PUMA.com and in PUMA stores, and at select lifestyle retailers just before Illumination’s Despicable Me 3 hits theaters on June 30.

PUMA has partnered in the past with Warner Bros. Consumer Products to launch co-branded collections (apparel, accessories and footwear) based on its Tom and Jerry and Superman brands. The global sportswear company also teamed up with Sesame Workshop last year to release apparel, accessories and footwear based on Sesame Street.

In other Despicable Me 3 branding news, Casetify has joined forces with Universal and artists Craig & Karl to launch a line of tech accessories inspired by the upcoming film. The Hong Kong-based tech accessories brand is launching the Casetify x Minion x Craig + Karl collection–which includes iPhone cases, Macbook sleeves and Apple Watch bands–on its website on June 30.
