Toronto, Canada’s Comet Entertainment has joined forces with London-based animation studio The Illuminated Film Company on the 2D-animated project Buddy and Elvis (52 x 11 minutes).

Based on the books Have you seen Elvis? and It’s Showtime Elvis! written by Andrew Murray and illustrated by Nicola Slater, the Canada/UK co-production follows the adventures of two aliens as they disguise themselves as a cat and a dog and travel to Earth. The show is aimed at kids ages five to 11.

Production is slated to begin this fall in Toronto and London, with work expected to last roughly 18 months. Producers on the project are Comet founder and CEO Raquel Benitez and Illuminated founder and CEO Iain Harvey. There are currently no broadcasters attached to the toon.

Comet’s previous production credits include TV movie Santa vs. Claus. Previous projects from Illuminated include the Little Princess series, which aired on Channel 5 in the UK.
