Nickelodeon has scooped up Genius Brand International’s brand-new preschool series Rainbow Rangers for Nick Jr. US and  the Caribbean Basin.

The 52 x 11-minute CGI toon is currently in development. It follows Earth’s First Responders, seven girls who set out to save the environment with their unique personality and powers.

The fantasy, action-adventure series was created by an experienced team, including Rob Minkoff (The Lion King), Shane Morris (Frozen) and Tim Mansfield (New York Times Bestselling author). Co-creator Elise Allen (Dinosaur Train, Lion Guard) is also serving as head writer. Genius Brands chairman and CEO Andy Heyward is executive producing with Disney alum Ruben Aquino (Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, Little Mermaid) on hand to create key designs.

The deal comes shortly after Genius Brands named Fisher-Price as global master toy partner for the property.

GBI plans to premiere the series during the fall of 2018.
