Producer Sherry Gunther Shugerman (The Simpsons, Family Guy, Rugrats) is teaming up with German brand management and media company m4e AG to produce the new series The Beatrix Girls.

The show is based on the multimedia brand and its toy line of collectible pop star dolls.

Originally developed by Shugerman and her L.A.-based company POPmedia Brands, The Beatrix Girls features pop musicians Brayden, Lark, Ainsley and Chantal. The brand is driven by original music, and its online content has attracted more than 23 million views on YouTube.

Shugerman and m4e are joined by screenwriter Robert Ramirez. The series is currently in financing status and discussions with various broadcasters are ongoing.

Production for the show is due to start in 2017.
