New York’s 4K Media has tapped Screenvision Media to distribute the new film Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions.

The feature film will be released on January 20, 2017 in a limited theatrical engagement, screening in more than 500 cinemas across the US and Canada.

Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions features new character designs and an original story from the brand’s creator Kazuki Takahashi. Additionally, a number of fan-favorite characters are coming back for the film.

4K Media, manager of the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise in the US and globally (excluding Asia), is celebrating the brand’s 15th anniversary, and the company has made a number of moves this year in effort to extend its reach.

For example, 4K recently tapped Australia’s Coverpoint Marketing as a licensing agent for Australia and New Zealand, while an exclusive licensing deal with lifestyle brand Silver Buffalo was also inked for Canada and the US.

Additionally, Dubai-based MBC Group recently picked up a raft of Yu-Gi-Oh! content for its specialized children’s edutainment channel MBC3 in the Middle East and North Africa.
