Australian toyco Moose Toys is partnering with UPHE Content Group to distribute the first-ever movie based on its hit collectible property Shopkins. Shopkins: Chef Club, a direct-to-video production, will be available next month.

Since its launch in 2014, Shopkins now includes 140 different collectible toy characters, a line of Shoppies Dolls and an animated webisode series that has amassed nearly 100 million views on YouTube.

Shopkins: Chef Club will feature fan-favorite characters Kooky Cookie, Apple Blossom, Lippy Lips and Cheeky Chocolate, as well as a number of new faces. The movie will also mark the screen debut of the Shoppies characters Bubbleisha, Jessicake and Donatina.

The DVD will be sold at US retail, and the movie will be available for digital download globally. DVD packaging includes an exclusive Kooky Cookie collectible, and to coincide with the movie’s release, the YouTube series’ sixth season and the Shoppies Dolls range will feature characters featured in the film.

The DVD initiative comes as Moose Toys brings the total number of licensees in Canada and the US to more than 50. The toyco’s retail sales surpassed US$100 million last year.

London-based UPHE Content Group is part of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, a division of Universal Studios.
