Wind Dancer Films has announced production on season two of its animated PBS KIDS series Ready Jet Go! The new season will feature 24 episodes and an hour-long special.
A number of new web games and mobile apps based on the show also went into production this month and are set to launch in late 2017. A consumer products program including licensed toys, publishing and apparel will be readied for US retailers next year.
Targeting kids ages three to eight, Ready Jet Go! features adventures that focus on astronomy, technology, innovation and invention. The series incorporates live-action segments with NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory astrophysicist Amy Mainzer, who is also a science curriculum consultant for the show.
Since its premiere in February on PBS KIDS, Ready Jet Go! has reached 22 million viewers, including 7.6 million on linear TV. In addition to airing on PBS stations, full-length segments from the show have been streamed more than 93 million times via pbskids.org, the free PBS KIDS Video app and Amazon Prime.
