July 14, 2016

Disney has greenlit a second season of the animated short-form series based on its hit Descendants property.

Featuring three original songs and new characters, the second season of Descendants: Wicked World  is slated to air this fall on Disney Channel, the Disney Channel app and VOD platform and YouTube. It is executive-produced by Carin Davis (My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic) and Eric Fogel (Celebrity Deathmatch), who also serves as director.

The first batch of Descendants: Wicked World shorts, which follow the progeny of Disney’s best-known villains as they try to fit in at exclusive high school Auradon Prep, has reached more than 30 million total viewers in the US and generated 100 million engagements on Disney Channel’s app, VOD and YouTube platforms since launching in September 2015.

The original season culminates on July 15 with a half-hour special featuring six back-to-back episodes that will also tease some storylines featured in the upcoming movie sequel Descendants 2, slated to head into production in the coming months.

Descendants was the number-one cable TV movie of 2015 and stands as top Disney Channel Original Movie ever among kids in France, the Netherlands, Belgium (south), Portugal, South Africa and Spain.
