First-time partners Eleven Arts and Toei Animation are releasing the English-language version of anime film Digimon Adventure tri.–Chapter 1: Reunion stateside.
The film’s producer Toei Animation and the L.A.-based film distributor are planning a one-night Fathom Events screening in more than 300 US movie theaters on September 15, followed by a traditional multi-city national theatrical release in major US centers.
Digimon Adventure tri.–Chapter 1: Reunion is the first film in Toei’s planned Digimon Adventure tri. film series to be released with an English-language version. It’s also the first English-language Digimon film to get a US theatrical run since 2000.
Saban Brands acquired the TV and licensing rights to the Digimon franchise outside of Asia in 2012, and animated action series Digimon Fusion saw its US debut on Nicktoons in fall 2013. More than 250 episodes of the property’s various series have aired globally since 1999.
