Llama Llama series sets sights on Netflix

Llama Llama's upcoming debut on the SVOD marks the largest content licensing deal in Genius Brands' history.

Genius Brands International’s new original preschool series Llama Llama will premiere on Netflix in 2017.

The 15 x half-hour¬†episodes—currently being produced in 20 different languages—will be available worldwide on the SVOD. The series is based on the award-winning book series by author and illustrator Ana Dewdney. The pact marks the largest content licensing deal in GBI’s history.

The company is also rolling out a global licensing program, which will be unveiled at next week’s Licensing Expo in Las Vegas.

In 2015, GBI partnered with Penguin Young Readers on a global consumer products program for the book series. The range includes toys, games, apparel, accessories, bedding and healthy foods.

In further expansions, GBI recently partnered with Sony Music Entertainment and its Legacy Recordings label on a new music label for kids, Genius Brands Music.
