Turner EMEA is combining its programming and acquisitions teams under the leadership of Cecilia Persson, who has been upped to VP of programming and content strategy kids EMEA, acquisitions and co-production international.
Persson will retain her previous acquisitions and co-production responsibilities, while also managing and leading programming strategy across EMEA for all of Turner’s kids linear and digital platforms. She will report to Patricia Hidalgo, chief content & creative officer kids EMEA and kids strategy international.
Persson’s promotion comes less than a month after the broadcaster elevated Tarek Mounir to the role of VP and GM for the Middle East, North Africa, Turkey, Greece and Cyprus. Both promotions are in line with Turner’s move last fall to strengthen ties between its international and US operations, at which time new remits were put into effect for both Hidalgo and Central and Eastern Europe SVP & MD Hannes Heyelmann.
Turner recently launched the rebooted version of The Powerpuff Girls series, and this fall will put the next iteration of the boy-skewing popular series Ben 10 on air. The broadcaster currently reaches 70 countries, with 18 channels beamed into more than 130 million households across EMEA.
