Genius Brands International (GBI) has attracted a raft of new licensing partners for its girl-skewing SpacePOP brand, which is set to bow this summer.

SpacePOP’s latest partners are TASTE Beauty (lip balm, nail polish and specialty gift sets), Bare Tree Media (digital photo stickers and mobile phone themes), Canal Toys (crafts and activity kits) and Australia’s Yowie Group (confectionery). The items will hit US retail beginning this fall.

The new licensees join current partners Jaya Apparel, H.E.R. Accessories, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Imprint, a division of Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group, which will launch the original middle grade novel Not Your Average Princesses in the coming months.

Featuring original music produced by Ron and Stefanie Fair, and original character designs by Han Lee (Pink FizzBobby Jack), SpacePOP is currently in production with more than 100 serialized four-minute animated videos that will live on a dedicated YouTube channel.

The property’s original music will be woven through a narrative story that follows the evil Empress Geela and five teenage princesses who form a band called SpacePOP.

The property will be featured in GBI’s new music label, Genius Brands Music, which launched this month in collaboration with Sony Music Entertainment’s Legacy Recordings. The label will also feature music from other GBI IPs including Baby Genius and Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab, as well as third-party brands like book-based franchise Llama Llama.
