L.A.-based OddBot Studio has optioned the The Mighty Machines of Mackie McKeens from author and illustrator Daryl Slaton.

OddBot, which has produced shows for Warner Bros., Sprout and Disney – including the latter’s Star Darlings tween series – will adapt the Mackie book property as an animated series aimed at preschoolers.

The STEM-themed book sees the titular character unite with his sister Mika and a band of mini-bots to encourage teamwork in a playful learning laboratory. They build contraptions designed to resolve dilemmas, and inventions include a mobile dinosaur scrubber and a walking fire hydrant.

Slaton, through his consultancy Tails of Whimsy, has created characters for Fortune 500 companies and tourist attractions. He has recently launched four new IPs at Licensing Expo, Kidscreen Summit and Book Expo America, with deals currently in development through David Wollos of Think Tank Emporium.
