French animation studio Xilam has signed an exclusive broadcasting deal in France with Paris-based broadcasting group Lagardère Active for the comedy series Oggy and the Cockroaches.

The deal, which comes into effect in 2017, will see Lagardère Active acquire exclusive broadcasting rights in France for its Gulli and Canal J channels─including free and pay TV, as well as their corresponding Replay TV platforms.

The agreement spans all seasons of Oggy, including the upcoming fifth season, which is currently in production for a spring 2017 delivery. Including its latest season, the complete series totals more than 500 seven-minute episodes, 350 of which are in Ultra HD.

Gulli originally aired Oggy 10 years ago, and the series was instrumental in the channel’s early success.

Since premiering on FOX TV in the US in 1998, Oggy has aired in more than 180 countries and has proven to be popular on the web, generating two billion YouTube views per year.

The deal comes after the recent opening of Xilam’s new animation studio in Lyon.
