German brand manager m4e (Wissper, Mia and me) is set to adapt the popular comic book series Jinnrise by American writer Sohaib Awan into a CGI-animated show for kids ages seven to 12.
Awan’s Philadelphia-based transmedia company Jabal Entertainment is on-board to co-produce, while m4e will manage the series’ global distribution, licensing and merchandising rights.
Jinnrise will follow the worldwide adventures of 10-year-old Yunus and his best friend Jabal, who is a heroic and outspoken Jinn, or genie.
The story kicks off when the unlikely duo, joined by international student and slacker Andrew, martial arts prodigy Haya, and conspiracy theorist/scientist Harris, embarks on a journey to free other Jinn leaders who must band together to save Earth from alien conquerors.
The production news arrives after the recent announcement of m4e’s strategic alliance with Planeta Junior and a new development project with Austrian children’s book author Thomas Brezina.
