In speaking to new platforms, Outfit7’s kids series Talking Tom and Friends is at the center of a digital distribution deal inked with London-based distributor MoMedia.
Under the three-year deal, MoMedia plans to distribute the series (52 x 11 minutes), which debuted on YouTube last year , to both transactional and SVOD services including Netflix, Amazon, iTunes and Google Play.
Last November, UK-based Jetpack Distribution snapped up global broadcast rights, excluding Asia, for the CGI-animated series that follows the hijinks of Talking Tom the cat and his friends as they shoot their own reality TV show. It features a voice cast that includes Golden Globe nominee Colin Hanks (Fargo) and Tom Kenney (SpongeBob SquarePants).
MoMedia, which also manages the digital distribution of children’s series including Transformers: Rescue Bots, Postman Pat and Pocoyo, recently inked a similar distribution deal with Canadian prodco Shaftesbury to distribute 37 hours of Shaftesbury’s film and TV content, including the family comedy Life With Derek.
Various apps for Talking Tom have been hosted on Amazon, iTunes and Google Play, and they have been downloaded more than three billion times to date. The brand has also inspired a line of consumer products, short-form video content and an upcoming feature film.
