London- and New York-based indie Silvergate Media has inked a deal with SFX-driven cinematic attractions company SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment to launch the first 4D movie experience to feature its hit preschool property Octonauts.
The first film, The Amazon Adventure – 4-D, will follow the Octonauts down the Amazon River on a journey to locate a lost city and Octonaut Kwazii’s long-lost grandfather.
A UK premiere has been set for May 2016 and the film will launch at additional, yet-to-be announced attractions worldwide. More Octonauts films in 3D with 4D effects are expected to follow from SimEx and Silvergate as part of the three-year deal.
Since debuting on CBeebies in 2010, Octonauts now airs in more than 100 countries worldwide with broadcasters including Disney Channel (US), CBeebies (UK), ABC (Australia), TF1 (France), Super RTL (Germany) and CCTV (China).
The brand’s licensing program has also found success with partners including Penguin (publishing), Fisher-Price (toys), Silvergate (live stage shows) and app maker Night & Day Studios, which is developing the first Octonauts app.
