Elmo is singing a whole new tune in the mobile world, following Sesame Workshop’s partnership with design firm IDEO and nonprofit org NAMM Foundation to launch Sesame Street Makes Music.

The app (US$2.99) is now available for iOS devices and invites kids to discover musical instruments and play songs alongside Abby, Cookie Monster, Elmo and Ernie. Users can play six different songs with the band in the Sesame Street concert hall, or explore a variety of instruments on their own.

The game is the latest addition to Sesame Workshop’s growing suite of branded apps, and its debut is also timed with the renowned TV series making its highly anticipated debut on HBO this past weekend.
