Disney ramps up Gravity Falls activity around series finale

Disney is launching a number of initiatives across TV, publishing and games in support of the finale of its Emmy- and BAFTA-winning series Gravity Falls.

With Disney’s hit adventure-comedy series Gravity Falls set to end with its February 17 airing on Disney XD, the House of Mouse  is launching a number of initiatives across TV, publishing and games in support of the Emmy- and BAFTA-winning series.

Created and executive-produced by Alex Hirsch, Gravity Falls will end with a special one-hour penultimate episode titled “Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back The Falls” in which the Pines family’s ultimate fate and greatest sacrifice will be revealed.

For 40 half-hour episodes and 17 shorts since its debut in 2012, the series has followed the summertime adventures of twin siblings Dipper (Jason Ritter) and Mabel Pines (Kristen Schaal) in the mysterious town of Gravity Falls, Oregon.

With Hirsch’s decision to discontinue the series, Disney Publishing has announced it will release the official version of Gravity Falls: Journal 3, a book that appears in the program, in July.

And prior to the show’s finale, Disney XD will air a half-hour Gravity Falls retrospective on February 8, plus a 68-hour marathon beginning February 12.

In addition, new interactive game Gravity Falls: Take Back The Falls will launch on WATCH Disney XD in mid-February.

Despite reaching the end of its run, the series will continue to broadcast daily on Disney XD and Disney Channels worldwide.
