Dublin-based prodco JAM Media has inked a handful of European pre-sales for new live-action/animated series Little Roy.
Broadcasters NRK (Norway), SVT (Sweden), YLE (Finland) and VRT (Belgium) join ABC Australia on the slate for Little Roy. The 52 x 14-minute jointly commissioned CBeebies and CBBC series is one of two spin-offs (the other being The Roy Files) of popular CBBC show Roy. JAM media holds global rights to both series.
Little Roy, produced with support from the Irish Film Board and Northern Ireland Screen, will air on CBeebies, CBBC and Australia’s ABC KIDS in 2017. Broadcast dates have not been annouced for Norway, Sweden, Finland and Belgium.
The series follows the daily adventures of five-year-old Roy O’Brien, whose cartoon abilities and enthusiasm lead to mayhem. To solve his real-life problems, Roy escapes into his imagination, where he takes on the persona of Wonder Roy. With the help of his sidekick Finn, he finds a solution to his daily dilemma—but it doesn’t always go according to plan.
Little Roy is being produced by JAM Media’s Mark Cumberton and executive produced by the BBC’s Sue Nott and Michael Towner and JAM’s Alan Shannon and John Rice.
