Popular Russian kids property Masha and the Bear is getting a new spin-off series.

Produced by Animaccord, the same Russian studio behind Masha and the Bear and Masha’s Tales, the new 26 x six-minute series Masha’s Scary Tales sees Masha teaching kids how to work through their fears and that things like being afraid of the dark or scared of water are nothing to worry about.

Episodes feature scary, yet charming, characters and a musical score inspired by classical composers Grieg and Tchaikovsky. The first 13 eps are slated to launch in Q1 2016, followed by the second baker’s dozen in Q4. Denmark-based Ink Global is handling worldwide distribution, except for North America, South America and Russia.

Original series Masha and the Bear is broadcast across major global markets by France TV, KiKA (Germany), Rai YoYo (Italy), Turner Cartoonito (UK and Latin America), Turner Boing (Spain), ABC (Australia), Canal Panda (Spain, Portugal), Minimax (Central Europe), Russia 1 (Russia and CIS), SIC (Portugal and Portuguese-speaking Africa), SpaceToon (Middle East, North Africa and Malaysia) and the US (Netflix). It also won Best Animation in the Creative Talent category at the 2015 Kidscreen Awards.
