CBeebies-commissioned preschool series Twirlywoos has been sold by Canada’s DHX Media to six global broadcasters.

The series is heading to France following deals with Lagardère for its Gulli and Tiji channels. Further broadcasters acquiring the show include YLE (Finland), SVT (Sweden), NRK (Norway) and Hop! (Israel). DHX-owned Family Jr. will broadcast Twirlywoos in Canada beginning this fall.

The 50 x 11-minute series, created and executive produced by Ragdoll Productions’ Anne Wood, combines stop-frame animation and live-action sequences that are set in the real world. The series is produced in association with DHX Media, which also handles global distribution, merchandising, brand management and marketing.

Earlier this summer, DHX inked a publishing rights deal with HarperCollins Children’s Books for the brand, and a number of licensing partners joined Twirlywoos global master toy licensee Golden Bear in May.
