9 Story Media Group has entered a new content partnership with media conglomerate Beijing Sunshine Culture and Communication that will see The Fred Rogers Company/9 Story co-productions Peg + Cat and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood launch in China.
Sunshine Culture and Communication has acquired all rights within the region for the acclaimed preschool series.
Marking its first major foray into the territory, 9 Story will now look to bring its kids content to China through Sunshine’s network of partners.
Peg + Cat launched on PBS KIDS in 2013 and has since been acquired by a number of global broadcasters, including a pick-up earlier this year by Discovery Kids for Latin America. The series also has a new licensing deal for publishing, and production recently started on the second season of the show.
Also a globetrotter, The Fred Rogers Company/9 Story Media/Out of the Blue co-pro Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood launched in 2012 on PBS KIDS in the US and CBC in Canada. It continues to expand globally with new licensing deals, including five new licensees for its US consumer products program.
9 Story is also expanding its presence in Asia, following last December’s slew of sales to broadcasters in Taiwan, Korea and Singapore.
