FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment has greenlit a second season of DHX Media-produced animated preschool series Kate & Mim-Mim and inked publishing and global master toy partnerships.
Disney Junior will premiere season two in the US before airing it globally in late 2015.
Currently in pre-production, the new 23 x 22-minute season created by husband and wife team Scott and Julie Stewart will include two themed seasonal specials.
For the IP’s consumer products growth, Boca Raton, Florida-based toyco Just Play has been appointed global master toy partner and will begin by developing plush, dolls, figure packs and role play products.
An initial spring 2016 launch is set for North America and the UK, followed by a wider international rollout at retail.
Also on board is Penguin Random House division Penguin Young Readers as the brand’s North American publishing partner.
An initial line featuring storybooks, levelled readers, e-books and doodle, activity and sticker books is expected for fall 2016.
Since debuting last year to strong ratings on CBeebies in the UK, Disney Junior in the US and Super RTL in Germany, Kate & Mim-Mim has been sold to 80 international territories to broadcasters including Clan (Spain), DR (Denmark), SVT (Sweden), Tiji (France) and Okto (Singapore).
Existing licensees include Immediate Media (DVDs, magazine special), Acronym (English-language app) and Universal (DVDs in Germany).
