Matt Hatter ventures further into France

With a slot on Gulli and a new master toy partnership with Smoby France, Platinum Films' boy-skewing adventure series Matt Hatter Chronicles has landed TF1 Licences as its French licensing agent.

With a slot on Gulli and a new master toy partnership with Smoby France, Platinum Films’ boy-skewing adventure series Matt Hatter Chronicles has landed TF1 Licences as its French licensing agent.

Under the latest deal, TF1 will look to bring on licensing partners for a planned consumer products roll out in 2015/16 with an accompanying 360-degree marketing campaign across in-store retail, the web and television with Gulli.

Paris-based Lagardère Active acquired the popular series in 2014 and debuted seasons one and two last fall on its pay-TV children’s channel Canal J before launching the show on its free-to-air net Gulli this year.

Lagardère is supporting the program through additional online content, features in the Gulli TV magazine and special summer kids events at its entertainment park, Gulli Parc, in July.

For merch, Smoby is set to launch a Matt Hatter toy range in France this fall beginning with action figures and role-play items focused on tech and interactivity.

Since premiering on UK kidsnet CiTV in 2012, the series has gone on to air in 80 countries worldwide and have consumer product campaigns rolled out in the UK and the Middle East in fall 2014.

Matt Hatter Chronicles follows the adventures of a 13-year-old boy whose life changes dramatically upon discovering his family protects a gateway to another realm.

CiTV ordered 13 new eps in October, so a brand-new fourth season, produced by UK-based Platinum Films and Toronto, Canada’s Dream Mill, is currently in the works for an airdate later this year.
