DHX, Temple Street strike first notes for The Music Room

Toronto, Canada-based Temple Street Productions and DHX Television have started production on a new music-based series from the creator of reality tween drama The Next Step.

Toronto, Canada-based Temple Street Productions and DHX Television have begun production on a new music-based series called The Music Room from Frank van Keeken, creator of reality tween drama The Next Step.

Set to debut on Family Channel in Canada in winter 2016, the reality-style tween drama is being made under working title The Music Room. Temple Street is producing the show, in association with Family Channel and under executive producers van Keeken, Ivan Schneeberg, David Fortier and Laura Harbin.

Featuring an entirely original soundtrack, the series follows a group of young performers who are part of an elite music program.

The series stars Keara Graves (Leia), Shane Harte (Luke), Alex Zaichkowski (John), Sarah Carmosino (Rachel), Levi Randall (Theo), Deshaun Clarke (Jude), Ella Jonas Farlinger (Eva), Maranda Thomas (Mary), Alyssa Baker (Maggie), Rakim Kelly (Isaac), Olivia Solo (Annabelle), Jeni Ross (Clara), Katrina Hachey (Hannah) and Matthew Bacik (Nate). Michael Torontow and Ali Milner will play Mr. T and Parker, who oversee the music program.

The Music Room will also feature guest appearances by notable artists and guest stars from The Next Step. The dance-themed show is currently in its third season, which started airing on Family Channel on March 16, 2015.
