TRU launching global Star Wars campaign

Toys 'R' Us is inviting Star Wars fans to dress up as their favorite characters and head to local stores on May 3 to launch the toy retailer's year-long celebration of the epic saga.

Toys ‘R’ Us is inviting Star Wars fans to get dressed as their favorite character and head to their local outlet on May 3 to help launch its year-long celebration of the epic saga.

In addition to a unique in-store fan experience, young Jedis and their families in the US can win US$1,000 Toys ‘R’ Us gift cards and a trip for four to Toys ‘R’ Us Times Square in New York for a private midnight madness shopping spree this fall.

With the seventh installment in the iconic franchise set to hit theaters December 18, Toys ‘R’ Us is positioning itself as the one-stop shop for all Star Wars toys and collectibles. Accordingly, the toy retailer will offer hundreds of playthings based on classic characters, scenes and vehicles, as well as exclusive new Star Wars products from Lego and Hasbro.

Promotions will run throughout the year, both in-store and online, beginning with buy one get 40% off all Star Wars merchandise from May 3 to May 9.

TRU has also set up online hub Toysrus.com/DestinationStarWars for the year-long promotion.
