Furthering its effort to expand globally across platforms, Milan, Italy-based Atlantyca Entertainment has inked a deal that sees Global Genesis Group acquire exclusive North American digital rights to Atlantyca’s Geronimo Stilton.

After securing the deal at this year’s Kidscreen Summit in Miami, Global Genesis is currently in negotiations with a number of major digital platforms interested in carrying the series.

Based on the books launched in 2000 by Italian publisher Edizioni Piemme that have sold more than 100 million copies across 150 countries, the TV series starring the famous mouse journalist is now in its third season, The New Adventures of Geronimo Stilton.

Currently in production, the latest 26 x 22-minute season is co-produced by Atlantyca with French prodco Superprod in association with RAI Fiction and France Télévisions.

The IP has already been a success in North America on the book front, thanks to the brand’s US publisher Scholastic, which has sold more than 17 million copies of the series.

A licensed consumer products range is also expected to reach US and Canadian retail shelves. Atlantyca brought on L.A.-based agency Lawless Entertainment in spring 2014 as the exclusive North American licensing agent for the property.
