The non-profit organization behind Sesame Street has tapped IMG Licensing to represent the iconic children’s brand in Japan. IMG will oversee a range of products and promotions, which will include apparel, accessories, toys, stationary, home decor, as well as video and digital media. Sesame Street‘s history with Japan dates back to 1971 when it first aired in the country. It is currently available on Hulu Japan.
Sesame Workshop has made a recent push into the Asian market. Last month, they announced a new partnership that would bring Sesame Street to VOD in China. Sesame Street ran a one-hour special on Chinese New Year with guest appearances from hosts China’s CCTV children’s channel.
