Former Asia Pacific executive Vishnu Athreya has been appointed VP of program scheduling for Cartoon Network and Boomerang US.

Based in Atlanta, Athreya will oversee the strategy and daily scheduling of programming content for Cartoon Network, Boomerang and their branded non-linear program platforms.

He will also serve as departmental lead for long-term planning and creative strategies for on-air stunts and events.

Athreya joins Cartoon Network’s US team after serving as executive director of programming, acquisitions and development for Turner Broadcasting’s kids channels in Asia Pacific (Cartoon Network, Toonami, POGO, Boomerang and Cartoonito). Previously based in Hong Kong, Athreya was responsible for driving content programming strategy in South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Prior to joining Turner Broadcasting, Athreya held positions at Radio One in Mumbai,  and MediaCom India, part of Grey Worldwide.

The appointment follows recent exec shakeups at CN stateside that saw Stacey Isenhower, former SVP of programming and scheduling, leave the company.
