New Jersey-based retail giant Toys ‘R’ Us has appointed Michael J. Short as EVP and CFO. Short joins the company as a seasoned executive, with retail and corporate development experience.
In his new position, Short will be a member the company’s global executive committee and report to CEO Antonio Urcelay.
He will help the company execute its new strategy, as the retailer strives for more fast-paced growth. So far this year, the toyco is on track with higher store sales in the first quarter, although it also posted a wider net loss.
Most recently, Short was EVP and CFO of AutoNation. Prior to that, he held senior positions at Universal Orlando, Joseph E. Seagram & Sons and IBM Corporation.
