US broadcaster The CW is reportedly set to replace its Saban Brands-owned Vortexx Saturday morning kids block with a new group of family-friendly live-action programs called One Magnificent Morning from CBS Television Distribution.
The new block, according to the Syndicated Network Television Association, will feature 10 half-hour lifestyle and educational titles including Dr. Pol, America’s Flavors, Swag and Reluctantly Healthy, and is scheduled to debut this September.
Although an official announcement has yet to be made, representatives from Saban Brands and The CW would only confirm the Vortexx block will continue airing its current schedule through Saturday, September 27, 2014. The CW says it will provide more programming information at a later date and would not confirm the existence of the One Magnificent Morning block.
Saban Brands launched the five-hour, boy-skewing Vortexx block on The CW in August 2012, and the Vortexx online hub for shows and games debuted at www.myvortexx.com.
Hit series Power Rangers and Yu-Gi-Oh! currently anchor the block, which includes a mix of animated and live-action shows such as Digimon Fusion, WWE Saturday Morning Slam, Sonic X, Dragonball Z Kai and The Spectacular Spider-Man.
With an initial goal of reaching 114 million homes in the US, Vortexx had distribution in 110 million by August 2013.
Saban Brands would not comment on the fate of Vortexx as a solely online entity after September, or on the future of Kabillion’s Vortexx-branded VOD channel that launched in April 2013.
