Former CBBC exec Melanie Halsall will step into the role of development head at Komixx Entertainment, the production company behind such children`s series as Toby`s Travelling Circus (pictured).
Halsall joins Komixx after taking time off last year to travel through Central and North America. During her travels, she also worked on scripted titles for FremantleMedia Kids and Family Entertainment out of the company’s New York office.
Previously, she was executive/development producer for CBBC Drama, Animation and Acquisitions, where she developed and produced scripted live-action and animation projects both with in-house BBC teams and with global third parties.
Komixx has access to one of the largest libraries of original family and children’s published material through its ongoing partnership with Random House Children’s Screen Entertainment (RHCSE), which was set up as a full-service production house to develop and produce screen entertainment exclusively from Random House Group-published books and characters. The two companies’ latest series, Wanda and the Alien, was picked up by 70 Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. channels last fall.
