Fox International-owned channel BabyTV is making an initial consumer products push into China, propelled by the launch of the first 12 titles of the BabyTV-dedicated DVD series from Chinese home video distributor Guangzhou Tianyi.

Guangzhou Tianyi’s country-wide distribution network will make BabyTV DVDs available in 800 stores, as well as at Tianyi’s 65 sales counters located in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Chengdu, Nanning, Hangzhou and Guanzhou. In addition to each title being sold as a single DVD, the retail offering also includes a 12-DVD box set.

The channel says it plans to add more key product categories throughout 2014 as it looks to build its licensing and merchandising infrastructure in the region.

BabyTV, which took its first steps into the apparel market last year, currently airs in more than 100 countries worldwide via more than 700 affiliate programs.
