Australia’s Flying Bark Productions has named its voice cast for the company’s first-ever animated theatrical stereoscopic release, Maya the Bee Movie.

Australian theater, film and television actress, Jacki Weaver, of Silver Linings Playbook fame, will voice the character of Buzzlina Von Beena. Noah Taylor will  join the voice cast as Crawley, while Miriam Margolyes voices the Queen of the Hive in the animated film.

Recently, Flying Bark Productions announced the Australian/German co-pro with Studio 100 had received funding from both Screen Australia and Screen NSW.

The movie, which is part of a new four-film distribution deal for Studio 100, will be directed by Alexs Stadermann, with Barbara Stephen as producer, and Alexia Gates-Foale as line producer.

The original Maya the Bee series was first produced in the 1970s, and a new generation of fans enjoy the tales of Maya the Bee with a new CG television series already airing in many European countries, as well as on ABC TV in Australia.
