PGS to rep new Playmobil-inspired series

International distributor PGS Entertainment has purchased the global rights to Super Four, a brand new CGI/3D-animated series based on Germany's popular Playmobil toy brand.

International distributor PGS Entertainment has purchased the global rights to Super Four, a brand new CGI/3D-animated series based on Germany’s popular Playmobil toy brand.

Already commissioned by France Televisions, and marking the first time the 40-year-old children’s toy brand will reach TV audiences, the 52 x 11-minute comedy/adventure series (plus three specials) targets kids ages five to nine and is produced by Paris-based Method Animation (The Little Prince, Chaplin & Co) and Germany’s morgen studios.

Super Four is created by Jesse Cleverly and Romain Van Liemt and follows the adventures of main characters Alex the Knight, Ruby Red the Pirate, Agent Gene, Twinkle Dust the Fairy and their friends who must band together to keep the Playmobil universe safe from a variety of foes.

Since launching in 1974, the Brandst├Ątter Group, which produces Playmobil products, has manufactured more than 2.5 billion plastic toy figures that are now available in more than 100 countries worldwide.To date, Playmobil includes 650 characters and more than 15,000 accessories.

Playmobil has also expanded digitally with the 2012 launch of its first app, Playmobil Pirates.
