UK indie Platinum Films has a new season of boy-skewing series Matt Hatter Chronicles in the pipeline following a third series commission from Britain’s ITV.

The news of the renewed series follows strong TV ratings for the first two seasons of the CGI show, which has been sold to more than 80 countries and dubbed into 18 languages.

The further 13 x 22-minute episodes will air next year.

Platinum Films will be looking to further strengthen the global TV profile across pay and free to air platforms at next week’s MIPCOM market, when season three will be officially presented to broadcasters.

With newly appointed master toy licensee Simba Dickie Group (EMEA, Russia and India), the Matt Hatter brand has a multi-territory consumer product rollout planned for 2014 under the management of licensing agents including ITVS GE (UK & Eire), Biplano (Iberia), Exim (Latam), Haven (Australasia), B-Rights (Greece & Cyprus) and Revolution (South Africa).

The series, produced by Platinum Films and Toronto, Canada-based based Dream Mill, follows the adventures of a schoolboy whose life is changed forever when he discovers a secret dimension known as the Multiverse.
