The British arm of European apparel company TVMania has picked up the license from Lego to produce apparel based on the upcoming February 2014 film The Lego Movie in the territory.

The agreement, which will span boys and girls nightwear and daywear retail distribution, adds to TVMania’s existing agreement to produce apparel ranges featuring popular Lego lines such as Lego Friends, Lego Legends of Chima, Lego City, Lego Duplo, Lego Classic and Lego Minifigure.

The animated film stars the voice talents of Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson and Will Ferrell and tells the tale of an ordinary Lego mini-figure who is mistaken for the legendary MasterBuilder and joins a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the universe together. It’s release – and the momentum surrounding it – comes as the classic toy continues to break retail records. More than 45.7 billion Lego bricks were produced in 2012 alone and on average every single person on Earth owns 86 bricks.
