Toronto-based multiplatform producer marblemedia has hired L.A.-based development exec Renae Garcia as its first director of US development and acquisitions.
“As our development slate broadens into the primetime scripted space, expanding our presence in L.A. is a natural next step. Renae has a real talent for spotting smart, original ideas and content trends. Her expertise and experience will be a tremendous asset as we continue to work with new writers, creators and showrunners,” said marblemedia co-CEO and exec producer Matt Hornburg in a statement.
Garcia will report to Hornburg, who splits time between Toronto and L.A. She will also work closely with Toronto-based director of development Miklos Perlus, who will continue to create, source and develop content for the company.
Garcia previously worked as director of acquisitions and development at FremantleMedia and prior to that as director of acquisitions and development at Alchemy Television.
She will attend the Banff World Media Festival with the marblemedia team to source new development opportunities and acquisitions for the company’s distribution slate.
