Along with the impending July release of the second Smurfs film comes an all-new video game from Sony Pictures Consumer Products and Ubisoft.

Developed by Ubisoft and WayForward, the action-adventure title for Xbox 360, PlayStation3, Wii and Wii U will also feature an interactive storytelling book and collection of mini-games on Nintendo DS.

The game is based on The Smurfs 2 film from Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation and follows The Smurfs Dance Party, which launched in 2011.

Following up the first Smurfs film that took in more than US$560 million at global box office, The Smurfs 2 sees evil wizard Gargamel create mischievous Smurf-like creatures called the Naughties, which he hopes will let him harness the magical Smurf essence. But when he discovers that only a real Smurf can give him what he wants, and only a secret spell that Smurfette knows can turn the Naughties into real Smurfs, Gargamel kidnaps Smurfette and brings her to Paris.

The new video game will let players assume the role of a Smurf and immerse themselves in environments adapted from the film, including New York City and Paris, as well as new worlds such as The Arctic Tundra and The Lava Jungle.
