With prebuys from Disney XD in the US and Canadian broadcasters YTV and VRAK TV, marblemedia is moving ahead with a follow-up to its physical kids game show hit Splatalot.
At MIPTV this week, the indie producer unveiled plans for Japanizi: Going, Going, Gong!, a 40 x half-hour kids game show adapted from the ABC reality offering I Survived a Japanese Game Show.
Japanizi is also pre-sold to a raft of Disney channels in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and parts of Asia Pacific, including Australia, India and South East Asia territories, as part of a deal with Distribution 360.
In each episode of the zany show, four teams of two are dropped into a world filled with bizarre costumes, physical gags, over-the-top stunts and wild characters. Three rounds of elimination will determine a final winner.
marblemedia co-CEO and executive producer Matt Hornburg had been looking for a follow-up concept for some time when they approached Small World IFT, which licensed the format rights to I Survived a Japanese Game Show.
The series will debut in Canada on YTV and Disney XD this fall. Distribution 360 will shop the series worldwide, while marblemedia looks to expand the brand through licensing and merchandising.
This new comes on the heels of last week’s announcement that marblemedia and Zodiak Kids will co-develop a new prank-style game-show format.
