DHX mobilizes Canadian efforts, signs Blackberry deal

DHX Media is widening its Canadian footprint by inking a number of deals across TV, home entertainment and digital platforms, including a deal with mobile platform Blackberry for 1,000 episodes of kids' programming.

DHX Media is widening its Canadian footprint by inking a number of deals across TV, home entertainment and digital platforms, including a deal with mobile platform Blackberry for 1,000 episodes of kids programming.

DHX series like Inspector Gadget and Sonic the Hedgehog and several Movie Toons will be available across Canada, the US and the UK via the Blackberry mobile platform.

In home entertainment news, Berkshire Axis Media Distribution (BAM) in Canada has also signed a six-year deal for a range of titles including Mona the Vampire and Are you Afraid of the Dark? BAM will be releasing titles in both French and English.

Canadian broadcaster CBC, meanwhile, has signed a license renewal for the first three seasons of the preschool stop-motion comedy animation POKO.  The series has aired on Kids’ CBC for nine years.
