Hasbro Studios has become the first US company to secure a deal under the terms of Malaysia’s new tax incentive program by agreeing to produce the second season of Transformers Rescue Bots with Kuala Lumpur-based Vision Animation and Australia’s Moody Street Kids.

Twenty-six half-hour episodes of The Hub’s new series will be co-produced by Hasbro in the US, Moody Street (Faireez) in Australia and Vision (Flea-Bitten, Shezow) in Malaysia. Pre-production is set to begin immediately with delivery expected by mid-2014.

Transformers Rescue Bots follows the story of a group of Autobots that must protect and learn about humans after being stationed by their leader Optimus Prime with a close-knit human family of first responders.

The Film in Malaysia Production Incentive Rebate was announced at MIPTV in April and applies to both local film producers and foreign producers using Malaysia as a location for production and post-production work.

Productions including feature films, animation, documentaries and commercial work will be eligible for a 30% cash rebate on audited in-country expenses. The Film in Malaysia Production Incentive Rebate goes into effect in January.
