CBeebies has picked up the broadcast rights for Peter Rabbit, the new CGI series from Penguin, Silvergate Media and Nickelodeon US based on the iconic IP.

The series will kick-off with a Christmas episode in December and be followed by a 52 x 11-minute series in the spring.

To mark the occasion, Silvergate and Penguin have revealed the first-ever image of the new series featuring Peter Rabbit, Benjamin Bouncer and introducing new character Lily Bobtail.

The deal also marks the 110th anniversary of the first publication of Beatrix Potter’s The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Frederick Warne. The book has sold more than 150 million copies since and has been published in more than 35 languages.

The new series is considered a “re-imagining” of the classic tales with new storylines and the aforementioned new character.
